Let's face it, wedding planning can be overwhelming. From deciding on the right date, to finding the right venue, to finding the perfect dress, to designing the invitations, to finding the right cake decorator (😁), things can get a bit stressful, but starting early and setting realistic expectations can help keep that stress at bay. Here are some tips to help make wedding planning a breeze.

Planner

Getting organized

  • Create a budget: Set a realistic budget early and stick to it. Remember to include a buffer for unexpected costs.

  • Start a timeline: Work backward from your wedding date to create a timeline with clear goals for booking vendors, sending invitations, and other tasks.

  • Use planning tools: Utilize wedding planning apps, a binder with dividers, or a dedicated wedding website to keep track of documents, contracts, and ideas.

  • Keep a central system: Maintain a dedicated wedding email address or folder for all related documents to prevent them from getting lost.

Prioritizing and delegating

  • Focus on priorities: Decide as a couple what elements are most important for your wedding day and allocate your budget and energy there.

  • Create a manageable guest list: Be realistic about your budget and venue capacity when creating your guest list.

  • Delegate tasks: Don't try to do everything yourselves. Delegate tasks to your wedding party or other willing helpers.

  • Hire help if possible: Consider hiring a wedding planner to guide you through the process and manage many of the logistical details.

Staying flexible and stress-free

  • Hire vendors early: Book your venue and key vendors as early as possible to secure availability.

  • Communicate clearly: Ensure all vendors and your wedding party understand your expectations to prevent misunderstandings.

  • Be flexible: Accept that some things may not go exactly as planned and have contingency plans for potential issues, like weather.

  • Take time for yourselves: Schedule regular time to disconnect from wedding planning and enjoy your relationship, and take breaks when you feel overwhelmed.

  • Remember the big picture: Keep perspective and focus on the commitment you are making to each other.

The takeaway...

These tips can help keep the main thing the main thing - embarking on this wonderful journey of life with the love of your life - but keeping God central to your plans definitely guarantees the best outcome. God is ever-present. Since He's right there with us in all things, take the opportunity to commune with Him and strengthen your relationship with each other. Relax, enjoy the process, and remember to "Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans." (Proverbs 16:3).

Much love,

Mama J 😊
